About Us

Milestone Mentoring is an established alternative education provider offering bespoke learning and mentoring programmes for children and young people who are unable to access mainstream or special school settings. Our approach combines high-quality, individualised education with intensive pastoral and mentoring support. We work with learners who may have social, emotional, or mental health needs, are neurodiverse, or have experienced trauma or prolonged absence from education. Every placement begins with a holistic assessment, allowing us to design a personalised plan that builds confidence, emotional regulation, and engagement, ensuring each young person can progress both academically, emotionally and socially within a safe, nurturing environment.

Our academic and vocational offer is designed to re-ignite curiosity and achievement through flexible, real-world learning. We deliver Functional Skills in English, Maths, and ICT, alongside bespoke project-based curricula linked to learners’ interests and aspirations—for example, construction, horticulture, animal care, bicycle maintenance, and criminology. Learning takes place in small groups or one-to-one settings, supported by qualified staff with experience across mainstream, SEND, and alternative provision sectors. Where appropriate, we also provide opportunities for learners to achieve accredited qualifications and develop employability skills, preparing them for positive transitions into further education, apprenticeships, or work. We currently provide BTEC Hair & Beauty, BTEC Business Administration, gym instructor qualifications, sports coaching, a range of leadership courses and computer programming. Our offer will continue to grow in response to the needs of the young people we support.

At Milestone Mentoring, we recognise that sustained progress relies on partnership. We work closely with parents, carers, and external professionals—including SEND teams, social workers, and schools—to ensure consistent communication and coordinated support. Regular progress reviews, joint planning meetings, and family engagement sessions are integral to our model. Our goal is to equip every young person with the resilience, confidence, and skills needed to successfully reintegrate into education or training, fostering long-term wellbeing and independence within their community.

Routes to Independence

When working with young people, there are three essential elements to consider when planning a tailored package for their journey towards independence.

Happy Teens

Emotional

Helping young people to understand their diagnosis. Working with them to understand the positives as well as the challenges. This is the starting point to being able to make positive choices for themselves and positive choices when managing their anxiety or when things get tricky.

SEN friendship group

Social

Helping young people understand themselves in the context of others. How the choices they make affect others as well as starting to understand the motivation of others.  This is the starting point for being able to understand other people, so they not only make good choices for themselves, but also for those around them. A starting point for understanding friendships and relationships

SEN Education

Academic

Assisting young people in reaching their full potential and addressing challenging subjects or activities serves as the initial step toward obtaining qualifications necessary for progressing to the next stage of their journey.
